7th at the North West Area
Brindle Brass Band are pleased to take home a 7th place result from the North West Area (Fourth Section) last Sunday (25th February), playing the piece Music for Jock Tamson (2021). Steve Hartley and Brindle Brass Band placed 7th out of 14, after drawing 8th at the Winter Gardens, in Blackpool.
Welcome our new MD; Steve Hartley
Brindle Band are delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Hartley as Musical Director
Steve brings a wealth of experience to the position of MD, having conducted many bands in his career including; Poulton le Fylde, Darwen Brass and more recently Pilling Silver Jubilee guiding them to the 2nd section.
Steve Studied with Roy Newsome and Goff Richards at Salford in the 1980s and describes banding as a way of life which he is privileged to be a part of.
He also became a member of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators in 2018 and has adjudicated at several contests and music festivals
Having accepted the position Steve and the Band are looking forward to getting to work on our Christmas Concert series and of course the Area Contest in February 2024.

Brindle Band 4th section NW area are looking to appoint a new MD due to our current MD Stephen Craig stepping down to concentrate on playing Flugel again
We are seeking to have a new MD in place ASAP
We have a couple of big events lined up in Sept, one of them being a concert at Blackpool Winter Gardens with Blackpool Male Voice Choir
You may be a player who fancies taking up the baton or an MD who is looking for a new challenge

Finishing touches to our test piece
The Band will be competing in the North West Area Brass Band Championships at Blackpool Winter Gardens on Sunday 26th February. In preparation for this we are having a rehearsal at St Leonard Church on Church Brow Walton le dale
The church has agreed for us to hold an open rehearsal on Tues 21st Feb at 8pm and we’d love for friends and supporters to come along and listen. Our MD Stephen Craig will put the finishing touches to a fantastic piece of music; Hungerford Town by Darrol Barry

On Sunday the 11th of September, Brindle Brass Band were proud to have played to a crowd of thousands who gathered for the Proclamation of King Charles III.
Brindle Band returned to Kirkby Lonsdale for the first time in a few years, following a Covid hiatus. After putting on a set to be proud of, we placed 2nd overall with a total of 221 points. We also took home the trophy for ‘Best March’.
Given the current global situation surrounding COVID-19, we are following government and Brass Bands England advice surrounding public gatherings, and cancelling band rehearsals for the next two weeks.
The Government has tonight updated its guidance to avoid all non-essential contact. Brass bands are non-essential. BBE now recommends to our members and the wider brass band community that all in-person brass band activity is stopped for the foreseeable future. This includes rehearsals, concerts, contests, committee meetings, other group activity and individual lessons.

It was an early start for Brindle after drawing first in the fourth section – at 9.30am sharp, we broke into the national anthem to start proceedings. We went on to play Neverland, for which we were awarded 4th place out of 16 entrants.
We also took home the prize for Best Percussion Section
Congratulations to Dave Jordan, Jack Yerkess & Lynsey Norris for putting in a fantastic performance on the percussion section – no doubt contributing to our 4th place!
